Gotta Keep Crossin' Them Bridges

Here are a few more pictures of the Brooklyn Bridge:

Work was hard today. I took this job at the hospital because I wanted the challenge of thriving in ridiculously stressful situations.

I got just what I asked for today.

There was a definite moment in the day when I wanted to throw down everything and leave.

Obviously, that is not an option. I simply had to keep going anyway.

However, there came a point -- and this is something I've been noticing a lot of in different areas of my life lately -- where the only option left was too accept what laid before me, no matter how difficult it was going to be. It was what had to be done.

Once there is acceptance, there is freedom.

New York BBQ?

The first night I was in New York I went for a walk and found this:

I did not try it, but I wondered -- what does Texas BBQ taste like in New York?

Memorial

Per my mother's request, I checked out the 911 memorial during my trip. I must say, I was impressed.

The memorial turned out incredibly well. It's humble, yet powerful. It isn't overflowing with American patriotism, but instead, filled with thought and reflection.

They did it well.

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn

My New York trip has come and gone and I am now back in Austin for the time being. I had an amazing time seeing friends, exploring the city, riding trains and eating tons of great food.

This trip reaffirmed my soul that I am definitely in the right place right now. As much as I want to live there, this trip showed me that I shouldn't spend my time wishing to be somewhere else. New York is an amazing place with so many different experiences to offer. I am looking forward to seeing how it will present itself to me when the time arrives.

As for right now, my time is here in Austin and I couldn't be happier.

I took the photo above while I was waiting to see a friend in Brooklyn. I've never read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn but I think I will soon.

Gitchie

I finally got around to putting this together tonight. Joey and I took these photos on our epic road trip to New York a year and a half ago.

Travel bug

I cannot shake this travel bug. If I weren't headed to New York this week, it would be unbearable!

There are so many places I want to see. Sometimes I feel frantic from the desire to be constantly moving. I know that right now I need to be here in Austin. I need to focus and enjoy the time I have here.

But sometimes -- like today -- I am a million miles away.

Random

I don't know...I just found this.

POD December: Sunday: 12/25/11

Here's December's POD. Happy New Year everyone!

Pic of the Day:
12/25/11-12/31/11

I loved the light in this image. I also love these flowers. That is all.

Monday: 12/26/11

I celebrated Christmas a few days late this year since I had to work on the actual day. I drove up to Dallas to celebrate it with my family...and yes, Rudolph doesn't have any antlers. My dad forgot to put them on this year. Haha.

Tuesday: 12/27/11

I finally finished this painting for my mom. It took me two years for some reason. I loved the way it turned out though!

Wednesday: 12/28/11

I call this image...New Highway.

Thursday: 12/29/11

This is Henry! I've been catsitting for my friend Sam. Watch out! He bites when you aren't expecting it! Crazy cat.

Friday: 12/30/11

I've been working a lot lately so I decided to treat myself to some Salmon. Soooo good and soooo easy to make!

Saturday: 12/31/11

Happy New Year! I spent my new year's far from partying, but this cup did make my day.
