I have been going through my photos looking for images to put in my portfolio.  I'm in the process of applying for grad school and I am so excited to look through everything!

I took this at South Padre Island one spring break.  It was the one week of the year where it was cold and rainy, but we made due.  =)

Charisse Lynn and Clint

This is Charisse Lynn and Clint.

They're a really fun couple.

We went on an adventure this past Tuesday.

The shoot went great! Thank you!

November POD

Well, now that Christmas is in 2 days, I figure it's best I get around to posting my pic of the day from November.

I was fortunate to have four days off for Thanksgiving so I took a little road trip around the North Texas area.

All photos are taken with my AE-1 on Kodak Portra film.

I drove out to see Mackie out in De Leon and I had to stop and take a photo of the golden waves of grain.

On Thanksgiving day, I ate and then went on a photo walk in the nature preserve in Plano.

The fall colors were much more subtle then in the past few years but amazing just the same.

I went and had lunch with my friend Sam in Dallas and we went on a walk through the M Streets and looked at the houses.

I also took photos of the trees and clouds while on a Texas Safari with Mackie.

I got to have lunch with this beautiful lady!  We had a great time in downtown Plano catching up on life.

I leave you with this image.  As my best friend said, "Jill, you've been making that face since you were a little girl."

Bemused and slightly amused.  Yup.  That sounds like me.

Extreme Couponing

So over the past few weeks, I have been watching a lot of Netflix.  At some point, I stumbled upon Extreme Couponing on TLC.  A week later, I found myself subconsciously cutting coupons.

It's a slippery slope.  Beware.

Zola Jesus

I had a great time at ACL last weekend!

I snagged this photo of Nika aka Zola Jesus after she jumped off stage and ran through the crowd.

September POD

September is one of those months that I look forward too.  Summer ends, school begins -- things cool down and one can begin to ease up and enjoy the weather...plus, it means my favorite month is just around the bend (and is now here!).

I've been working on getting access to a darkroom here in town, so in celebration for achieving that goal in September, I present to you some color film images from a roll I took in May of 2011.

I didn't expect how emotional I felt towards seeing this roll developed.  That's the fun in film though.  It isn't instant.  You forget what's on it.

I'll be developing more old rolls this month.  I can't wait to see them!

I am looking forward to what's around the bend.

Pinhole Camera

Over the past week, I have had the opportunity to take darkroom lessons with Anthony Maddaloni.  Today he brought in a pinhole camera and taught me how to make paper negatives.  The above images are the result.

I am absolutely pumped about spending time in the darkroom again.

August POD

Here are some pics from the last month:

KUT sent me down to photograph the Travis County Commissioners Court to take some images of the new building. I arrived right before they began and was able to take a portrait of Judge Briscoe.

I also had the privilege of interviewing Libby Sykora down at City Hall.  Austin City Council voted to give a part of 4th Street the name of Bettie Naylor Street in honor of her late partner's life.

I did a portrait session with some friends of mine who are getting married later this year.  Jennie and Alex are arguably one of the cutest couples ever.

I became slightly obsessed with drag queens after I stumbled upon Rupaul's Drag Race and watched the whole second season in a matter of days.  I went down to Oil Can Harry's and checked out the weekly drag show.

Labor Day weekend was fun.  I went out to the 360 bridge and took photos of the boats passing underneath it.

A friend of mine asked me to be the unit photographer on a short film he's making called "Falling Pineapples."  It was a great experience and I hope to be doing more of this work in the future.

I am currently continuing to work on KUT's stock images.  Wells Dunbar asked me for images of traffic on Mopac.  This shot was worth all the work it took to get it.

Toodles boo.

An Afternoon in Montreal

Here are a few shots from Montreal this summer.  If you ever want to go out of the country, but not too far -- I suggest Montreal.

The guy below was a bit of an ass to me.  He was pissed that I was taking a photo of his art.  I wasn't taking a photo of his art though...I was taking a photo of what was in front of me.  His art happened to be there.

*shrugs*

Hey You!

Yeah, you, Mr. ArtIST.

I do not tell you not to paint.
Please, do not tell me not to take pictures.

July POD

The month of July was a crazy month for me.  If I wasn't working, I was cleaning and moving houses.  It's a bit late, I know, but in the last hour of the month, I am getting last month's pics up!

At the end of the month, my brother and his girlfriend and I took a roadtrip across the country to New York.  It was an epic adventure with it's ups and downs but fun none the less.

Here's an awkward pic of my dear friend Jackie.  Jackie and awkward are synonomous -- her words, not mine.  She's living the life up in Brooklyn now and one morning I went and picked her up and we drove to Jones Beach.

Ethan, Alex and I then drove upstate and stopped at my cousin Alli's graduation party.  I snapped this photo of Ethan and Alex there.  I feel like it captures the essence of the two of them perfectly.

I love this moment with my Nana and Auntie.  My Aunt Lynda is now taking care of my Nana full time and it's really nice to see our family taking care of each other.

My Nana has an undeniable spark about her.  I hope that if I have the privilege to live as long as she does, I will have as good of an attitude as she does.  I love her so much!

I took a walk around the lake one evening and stopped and admired this view.  If I could describe Lake Luzerne in one word it would be peaceful.  It definitely provided some TLC to my soul.

We spent a lot of time watching TV together.  I'm not a huge fan of television but there are moments when it seems perfect.  We started the trip off watching Forrest Gump and then watched the Olympics every night.

This last photo is a self portrait I took in Montreal.  I have always wanted to go to Montreal -- it's only about two and a half hours from the lake.  Ethan and I took a day trip up and had a great time.  I can't wait to share a few more pics from there.

Summer is starting to wind down now.  Three-fourths of the dragon year is almost over and it has been wonderful.  I can't wait for the Fall!

Later Gator.
