SXSW

I hope everyone had a great SXSW experience!

I only went one day and managed to see White Dress, M. Ward and Of Montreal along with meeting Jack Black on the Congress Bridge.

We also stopped and took these pics!

I've been in an interesting place lately. I've been going through a lot and my journey with sobriety has been tested.

Being hard is sober -- not because I want to be messed up but because being messed up is prevalent in your mid-20s.

This week has been exceptionally hard given that it is SXSW and beer and liquor have literally been given out for free. Going to see a show and having to turn down free beer while your friends get to drink is...an interesting experience.

It's okay though. It's given me a different perspective and reacquainting with my normal self has been refreshing. Not having alcohol as a crutch has definitely made me feel stronger and taller.

In other news, here's a live performance from the Jezabels. I got to see them perform last year at SXSW one drunken afternoon.

I would be lying to say that I am happy right now.

I am not happy.

I am scared.

I am about as far away from my dreams as I've ever been. My camera lens is in the shop. My professional website has been hacked. I'm in a job that is consuming my life and all I want to do is weep into the nearest breakfast taco I can find.

I have been feeling a lot of pressure lately.  I can blame my job for it but really, when it comes down to it, it stems from me.  I have these ideas of what I want to be doing and who I want to be and if I don't fulfill these ideas, I severely punish myself.  It's a huge waste of energy and I need to stop it.

But since there are no breakfast tacos around, I will simply be brave, figure something out and keep pushing through this particularly difficult mile I am facing.
